Many suspected carburetion issues are actually caused by faults within the ignition system, making this the first place to look before making any carburetor adjustments.Random carburetor adjustments are useless and potentially harmful to the engines operation and should never be attempted.

One thing i am unsure of is the height of the fixed jet that needs to be pressed into the carburetor body. Does anyone have any experience of this height as i do not have access to my TR6 much at the moment so i cant measure the existing height and the spare did not come with a jet installed. I have searched the web and only really found one possible measurement that it should be recessed by 0.095 inches but i would like to confirm this somehow. However from reading I realise that there is some adjustment also available with fixed jets i.e. They may also have a tuning sheets or a book Zenith carbs, like they do for SU. They advised that the jet should be pressed into the body 0.100 inches below the deck. They also confirmed that it should be 0.100 inches to the raised outer edge of the jet, NOT the recessed jet center. They also confirmed that this height would be fine with the B2Y fixed needle that my 1969 175 CD-2 strombergs use. By using this site, you agree to the following: Terms of Use.
